Division One League side Great Olympics are set for a financial boost following striker Albert Amoah’s transfer from Asante Kotoko to Libyan giants Al Ahly Benghazi.
Amoah, who joined Kotoko from the Dade Boys last season, quickly became a standout performer in the Ghana Premier League, scoring 16 goals in 30 appearances. His impressive form attracted interest from abroad, culminating in a big move to North Africa.
Though the exact transfer fee remains undisclosed, Great Olympics are entitled to 30% of the proceeds under the terms of his original move to Kotoko.
Club boss Oluboi Commodore has urged transparency from the Porcupine Warriors regarding the deal’s details, insisting the Division One side must receive their due share.
Amoah’s performances extended beyond domestic football, where he netted twice in four CAF Confederation Cup appearances for Kotoko. His blend of pace, composure, and finishing made him a fan favourite at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The transfer marks a major step in Amoah’s career as he joins one of Libya’s most successful clubs, while Kotoko are expected to begin the search for a replacement as they continue their rebuilding process.
