Accra Great Olympics General Manager, Eric Alagidede, has vowed the club will send a powerful message when they face Hearts of Oak in the 2025 Democracy Cup.

The much-anticipated clash is set for Friday, August 29, at the Accra Sports Stadium, marking the Wonder Club’s first high-profile outing since their relegation from the Ghana Premier League at the close of the 2023/24 season.

Alagidede, who recently assumed his new role, sees the fixture as an opportunity to reaffirm Olympics’ place among Ghana’s football heavyweights.

“We are preparing very well and will make our first statement in the upcoming Democracy Cup,” he told Asempa FM.

Despite their drop to the Access Bank Division One League, the outspoken administrator maintains that Olympics remain Ghana’s third biggest football institution—behind only Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

The Democracy Cup, introduced in 2024 as a parliamentary initiative, aims to use football to promote unity and celebrate the country’s democratic values. The inaugural edition saw Kotoko edge Hearts to lift the trophy.
