Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has reiterated the government’s dedication to revitalising the Ghana Premier League and boosting its overall competitiveness.
Speaking at the official unveiling of a new partnership between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Adesa Production Limited (APL), the Minister stressed that transforming the domestic league is just as important as Ghana’s ambition to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“We’re not only focused on qualifying for the World Cup; we’re also committed to making our local league attractive and competitive,” Adams said.
The partnership, unveiled ahead of the 2025/26 season, includes a significant financial boost for Premier League clubs. Each team will receive GH₵1 million in support to prepare for the upcoming campaign.
In addition to financial backing, the agreement will enhance the league’s visibility. A minimum of three matches per week will be broadcast live, alongside regular highlight shows aimed at increasing fan engagement nationwide.
The move is seen as a major step forward in rebranding and strengthening the appeal of Ghana’s top-flight football.
