Gold Fields Ghana has unveiled a sponsorship package worth $100,000 for the season to bolster Medeama’s participation in the CAF Champions League.
The announcement was made during a media tour of the newly constructed TNA Stadium by the Executive Director of the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, Abdul Razak Yakubu.
This sponsorship marks a turnaround following the initial cancellation of their sponsorship deal with Medeama, which was subsequently reversed due to mounting pressure, particularly from Tarkwa’s constituents and Member of Parliament, George Mireku Duker.
Gold Fields acknowledges the significance of this financial investment in helping the club excel further in their inaugural journey in the Champions League.
Medeama’s upcoming matches are set to be intense, as they face formidable opponents such as the record-holders Al Ahly of Egypt, Algerian champions CR Belouizdad, and Yanga FC of Tanzania.
Their first encounter is scheduled to take place in Cairo on November 24.
