Girona FC have shortlisted David Oduro from Barça Atlètic, as a potential reinforcement this summer.
While no formal talks have been confirmed, sources say Barcelona would prefer to send the youngster out on loan rather than sanction a permanent transfer at this stage.
The 19-year-old joined the Catalan giants from Ghana Premier League side Accra Lions after impressing during trials ahead of the 2024/25 season.
His arrival was met with high hopes, particularly among Ghanaian fans, who saw in him the potential to rise swiftly through the ranks, especially after being invited on occasion to train with Xavi’s first team.
The defender made 10 appearances, including five starts, for Barça Atlètic.
Despite his early promise, it wasn’t enough to help the team avoid relegation from Group I of the Primera Federación, Spain’s third tier.
Currently on holiday, Oduro is expected to return refreshed and fully prepared for the 2025/26 season, amid growing interest in his services.
Whether Girona will push ahead for a loan or permanent deal remains to be seen, but for now, Barcelona are keen to monitor his development further before making any long-term decisions.
