Ghana’s Jerome Opoku scores in Başakşehir’s defeat to Rizespor

Ghanaian defender Jerome Opoku scored in Başakşehir’s 3-2 defeat to Rizespor in the Turkish top flight. 

The head-to-head record for the teams before the game was Rizespor three wins, Başakşehir 10 wins, and three draws.

Opoku started the game at the Çaykur Didi Stadyumu and lasted the full 90 minutes.

Başakşehir got off to a fast start, taking the lead 1-0 with Krzysztof Piatek in the sixth minute. The away side equalized in the 12th minute through Nigerian striker Ibrahim Olawoyin. Former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey assisted Ibrahim Olawoyin’s goal.

Dal Varesanovic scored in the 17th minute to give Rizespor their second goal.

Jerome Opoku’s left footed shot from the centre of the box to the top left corner made it 2-2. Deniz Türüç assisted Jerome Opoku’s goal.

This was the final score of the first half.

Nigerian striker Ibrahim Olawoyin scored the winning goal for Rizespor in added time.

Başakşehir will now turn their attention to the CUp game against Sanliurfaspor on December 7th.
