Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has written his name into the Championship history books after scoring the longest-range goal ever recorded in the competition.

The Ghanaian’s sensational strike came during Leicester’s 3–1 victory over Ipswich Town at the King Power Stadium.

According to Opta, the effort travelled an astonishing 65 yards, making it the longest-distance goal since the data company began tracking the league.

Fatawu showed quick thinking after regaining possession, nutmegging Jack Taylor before unleashing a left-footed shot from deep inside his own half.

Ipswich goalkeeper Christian Walton, caught well off his line, could only watch as the ball sailed over him and into the net, stunning the home crowd just before half-time.

Leicester rode the momentum from the strike, with Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Jordan Ayew also getting on the scoresheet to seal a morale-boosting win.

The result was particularly significant for the Foxes, who had struggled to secure home victories in recent weeks.

Reacting to the moment, manager Marti Cifuentes described the goal as “very special,” highlighting Fatawu’s confidence and growing impact within the squad.
