Black Satellites central defender, DaCosta Antwi, has earned a notable accolade at the ongoing TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2025, having been named among the best eleven players from the group stage by the tournament’s Technical Study Group.
Antwi, who plays for Ghana Premier League side Young Apostles FC, has been a key figure in Ghana’s defence, starting all three Group C matches. The left-sided centre-back has been commended for his tactical awareness, composure, and reliable performances. The Technical Study Group praised his ability to remain calm under pressure, build play from the back, and shut down threats in his defensive zone.
His inclusion in the standout XI highlights both his personal excellence and the strength of Ghana’s defensive setup, which has conceded just once in the tournament so far. This recognition comes as a morale boost ahead of Ghana’s crucial quarter-final encounter with host nation Egypt.
Reacting to the honour, Antwi said: “I didn’t expect this at all. It’s an honour, but I owe it all to the team. We defend together, and we win together. I’m just doing my part. There’s still work to do. Our eyes are on the main goal—to beat Egypt, get to the semi-finals, and book our ticket to the World Cup. That’s the real prize.”
Ghana will take on Egypt in the quarter-finals on Monday, May 12, at the new Suez Stadium, with kick-off set for 6:00 p.m. local time (15:00 GMT). With Antwi anchoring the defence alongside Aaron Essel, Ofori McCarthy, and goalkeeper Gidios Aseako, the Satellites aim to continue their strong form en route to World Cup qualification.
