The Black Meteors of Ghana on Sunday put up an impressive performance in the clash against their counterpart from Mozambique.
The two national teams of the countries are drawn in the second round of the qualifiers for the CAF U-23 Championship tournament.
Today, Mozambique hosted the first leg of the tie at the Estadio Nacional de Zimpeto in Maputo.
Despite a strong display from both teams in the first half, neither side could score and had to settle for a goalless draw.
In the second half, the Black Meteors of Ghana switched to second gear and had the advantage over the home team.
Having been awarded a penalty kick in the 64th minute, Hearts of Oak poster boy Daniel Afriyie Barnieh stepped up to take and scored in fine fashion to give the visitors the lead.
Later in the 76th minute, the talented forward was in the same position again and did not miss.
While Mozambique will score late in the game, it only served as a consolation as Ghana held on to win 2-1 at the end of the 90 minutes.
Ghana will next weekend host the second leg of the fixture.
