Ghanaian youth striker Ansah rues missing out on Belgian Super Cup trophy

Ghanaian youth striker Eugene Ansah is keen on entering into the brand new Belgian Pro League with a fresh ‘spirit’ after missing out on the Belgian Super Cup trophy.

The 19-year-old climbed off the bench to try and rescue the game for KSC Lokeren but a Denis Odoi last-gasp own-goal condemned them to defeat at Stade Constant Vanden Stock on Sunday.

Ansah played an influential in getting Lokeren to the Super Cup berth after scoring to propel and winning them the Belgian Cup last season and set up a date with league champions Anderlecht.

However, an Anderlecht side inspired by Ghanaian youth winger Frank Acheampong left them in somber moods.

“I guess it is good to enter into the fresh season with a winning mentality but that didn’t happen. We were hoping to win and I came on in the latter stages of the game,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

We are playing in Europe and in the League and we must work hard to combine and keep our focus in the season.”

The former Liberty Professionals youth team player reveals talks with Ghanaian youth winger Acheampong.

“Yeah. I spoke with him [Acheampong] before and after the game and we had a good chat.”
