Ghanaian international, David Atanga was the hero for KV Oostende over the weekend when the team record a vital 2-1 win against Zulte Waregem.
In a matchday 14 encounter of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, the attacker did not start the game for his team but was introduced in the 72nd minute.
Just eight minutes after coming on, he scored with a fine strike to propel KV Oostende to record a vital 2-1 win at the end of the contest.
Speaking in a post-match interview, David Atanga was full of praise for his teammates and rallied them to build on the result in upcoming games.
“It feels good. I want to congratulate the team, because together we made sure that space was freed up. As I went for goal, I did indeed see Fraser Hornby standing free next to me. But I wasn’t sure if he was in front of or behind me, so offside or not. And when in doubt, do it yourself. I knew where to kick and when the ball hit the net, there was a big celebration with the whole team.
“This win is very important and gives us a good feeling. In the first half there was little space, but we didn’t give anything away either. A compliment to our defence,” David Atanga stressed.
Up next for KV Oostende, the team will face off with Club Brugge on Saturday, October 29
