Ghanaian attacking pair of Koby Arthur and Akwasi Asante both played for Birmingham City as they got their pre-season off to winning ways with a 3-1 win over Alfreton Town in Derbyshire.
Asante, who spent last season at Shrewsbury Town and Northampton Town on loan, went straight into Lee Clark’s starting line-up and he set up the first goal for the Blues.
Olly Lee drew the visitors level in the 20th minute with a fine finish after pouncing on Akwasi Asante’s rebounded effort from 18 yards out.
Arthur also started from the right flanks and used his antics and thrills to excite the fans.
Arthur, 17, joined from English non-league side Woodford United last season and racked some first team appearances was also in the starting line-up and lasted till the end of the first half when the entire line-up was changed.
Asante, born in Holland, is set to remain in the Birmingham first team squad for next season while Arthur could be sent on loan.
