Midfielder Salis Abdul Samed is unsurprised that he has quickly settled at RC Lens and excelling for the French club.
The Ghanaian says he was already watching the club before joining them on a five-year deal from Clermont Foot in the summer transfer window.
According to the 27-year-old, he discovered Lens were interested in him last season, but he was already watching their games because of his friend Cheick Doucouré, whom he has replaced.
“Last season, there were 4-5 games left. I am warned that Lens is interested. Doucouré is my friend, a bit like my brother. I was told he might be leaving. I said okay.”
“I was already watching all the Lens matches because of Douc’. I liked its intensity. It’s kind of my style. For now, people tell me that I’m like him, I’m happy. When I signed, Douc’ was still there, next to me in the locker room. He used to tell people: “He’s crazy, he likes to dance, laugh, you’ll love him.”
“Everyone was cool. I like a good mood, it was easy in my head. The cloakroom is a family. In Clermont, where we had a good laugh every day, we turned on the music. So, I did the same, I danced on the stage in Rodez, I didn’t sing. Afterwards, they hailed me, they sang “Salissou”, he said to L’Équipe.
He has made seven appearances and scored a goal as Lens remain unbeaten and are just two points behind leaders PSG on the table.
