Two Ghanaian youngsters, Prince Amoako Junior and Caleb Yirenkyi, have been named among the best-performing U20 players in the world by the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) Football Observatory.
The pair, who play for Danish Superliga side FC Nordsjaelland, received top-four rankings in their respective positions.
Amoako Junior was listed fourth among forwards across Europe’s non-big five leagues, while Yirenkyi claimed the same position in the midfielders’ category.
Their recognition follows a blistering start to the 2024/25 campaign.
Amoako Junior, just 18, has already netted three goals and supplied an assist in seven matches.
Yirenkyi has equally impressed with a goal and two assists, in addition to earning his senior debut with the Black Stars.
Both players are graduates of Ghana’s famed Right to Dream Academy, and their progress has not gone unnoticed.
They have each been shortlisted for the Danish Superliga’s Young Player of the Month award for August.
The nominations pit them against fellow Ghanaian Bismarck Edjeodji of Vejle Boldklub, Viborg’s Thomas Jorgensen and Hjalte Bidstrup, and Clement Bischoff, who recently switched from Brøndby IF to Red Bull Salzburg.
The rise of Amoako Junior and Yirenkyi underlines the growing influence of Ghanaian talent in European football and highlights the strong developmental work of the Right to Dream Academy.
