Ghanaian defender Nathaniel Adjei joins Ligue 1 club FC Lorient

Ghanaian defender Nathaniel Adjei has joined Ligue 1 side FC Lorient until the end of the 2023/24 season.

FC Lorient announced the arrival on Saturday on their official social media platforms. The 21-year-old joins the Ligue 1 side on loan from Hammarby IF, a Swedish first division club.

After Eben Dugbatey, the Ayew brothers, and Alhassan Wakaso, Nathaniel Adjei is the fifth Ghanaian to strengthen the Lorient ranks.

Trained at Danbort FC, a club in Accra, Ghana, Nathaniel joined Sweden and more specifically Hammarby in the summer of 2021. He took his first steps in Europe with the Swedish club’s reserve team with whom he played 22 times. Nathaniel discovers the Allsvenskan, the local first division, a year later, in July 2022.

Today, the Teshie-born defender has played 32 games and scored one goal, in all competitions, with Hammarby IF, including two during qualifying for the Europa League Conference.

Nathaniel Adjei will wear number 32 and will be present in training today.
