Ghanaian defender Clinton Antwi shines with assist in KuPS’ narrow victory over Ilves

In a thrilling encounter at the Tammela Stadium on Friday evening, Ghanaian defender Clinton Antwi played a crucial role in KuPS’ 2-1 win against Ilves in the Finnish Veikkausliiga.

Antwi, who started the game and played the full 90 minutes, provided the assist for the winning goal scored by Saku Savolainen in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams displaying moments of brilliance. Jonathan Muzinga opened the scoring for Ilves in the sixth minute, but KuPS’ Ricardo Araújo leveled the scoreline in the 34th minute, with an assist from Santeri Haarala.

Both teams made several substitutions in the second half to influence the game, but it was Antwi’s assist that ultimately made the difference. The Ghanaian defender has been a consistent figure for KuPS this season, having played nine games, scored one goal, and provided one assist in the 2024 Veikkausliiga.

With this victory, KuPS now leads the Finnish Veikkausliiga with 22 points after ten games.
