Ghanaian teams are set for a financial boost after FIFA announced a record USD 355 million will be allocated to clubs worldwide under its Club Benefits Programme (CBP) for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a significant shift, the scheme will, for the first time, reward clubs not only for players released to the final tournament but also for those involved in the qualification phase.
This adjustment means sides from the Ghana Premier League including Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, and Nations FC, stand to gain whenever their players feature in the Black Stars’ qualifying campaign.
At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, FIFA distributed USD 209 million among 440 clubs, but the expanded model for 2026 ensures a broader and fairer redistribution of resources.
For Ghanaian clubs, the funding could provide crucial support for improving facilities, player welfare, and investment in youth development.
