Uganda FA has presented its Africa’s Best Player award to Ghana star Andre Ayew on Friday for his heroics in Europe as fans in the East African country voted the Swansea City ace the top player from the continent this year.
Organizers of the 2015 FUFA Awards have handed over Ayew’s award in the Rwandan capital of Kigali for being the Ugandan Fans’ Favourite Player featuring in the European Leagues.
The original ceremony was held in Kampala in December 2015 but the Swansea City star was not present to pick the award.
As a result, the organizers have now handed it over through Ghanaian CAF official Kofi Addae.
Addae received the award on Friday 22 January in Rwanda – the hosts for the 2016 African Nations Championships (CHAN) – from FUFA CEO Edgar Watson and Uganda Cranes CHAN team Skipper Farouk Miya.
He will deliver the award to the Ghana FA who will then ensure the Swansea City forward gets it.
“I am glad to receive this award on behalf of Ayew. I will give it to the Ghana FA for delivery to the player. We thank Ugandan fans for recognizing Ayew as their favorite player playing in the European Leagues,” said Addae was as quoted on FUFA site.
