Dutch international of Ghanaian descent, Brian Brobbey, is on the verge of completing a sensational move to English Premier League side Sunderland before the close of the transfer window.
The 23-year-old striker, who came through the youth ranks at Ajax, will join the Black Cats in a deal worth €20 million plus €5 million in add-ons, replacing Marc Guiu after his loan return to Chelsea.
Brobbey, born to Ghanaian parents, had been linked with a number of clubs including French side Rennes, but opted for Sunderland, where he is expected to play a key role in their Premier League campaign.
Despite choosing to represent the Netherlands at international level, where he has already scored once in eight appearances since 2023, Brobbey remains a player of Ghanaian heritage who continues to attract attention from Ghanaian football circles.
The move marks a new chapter in his career, with the forward leaving his boyhood club Ajax, having also experienced a brief spell in Germany with RB Leipzig.
Brobbey is expected to undergo medicals before officially signing with Sunderland.
