Ghanaian attacker Eugene Ansah admits he had a “difficult period” at Israeli club Hapoel Beer Sheva in the recently ended season.
In 22 games, Ansah scored two goals and assisted on two others.
“I went through a difficult period, I started the season well and the balls came in, and then there was a drop. It took me a while to get used to a big club,” I tried to tell the sports channel. Big as Hapoel B’Shlosha. Unlike previous groups, where my place was permanent in the squad, in B’Shlosha there is no guaranteed place for anyone. I lost my confidence some of the time, but I think I came back to myself in the last few rounds.”
The striker who is in the country without his wife and children who may join him next season continued: “People criticized me, called me a miss, I had a very hard time. But I proved what I’m worth when they give me confidence. Mentally it hurt because I was not used to it, but as soon as I ignored it.”
“From all the background noise and I realized that it all depends on me, the good ability is back and so are the numbers. I have no doubt that next season my numbers will be better.”
Asked if he is the fastest player in the Premier League, I will try honestly and with a half-smile: “I think so. I would love to face anyone.”
