Ghanaian attacker Brandon Thomas-Asante scores as West Brom draws 2-2 with Watford

English-born Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante continued his impressive form for West Bromwich Albion, scoring his 10th goal of the season in a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Watford at home in the Championship on Monday afternoon.

The 25-year-old played the full game and was instrumental in West Brom’s late comeback, which saw them salvage a point in the dying minutes of the match.

Watford opened the scoring in the 51st minute through Edo Kayembe’s left-footed shot from outside the box, following a corner. Mileta Rajovic doubled the visitors’ lead in the 66th minute with a close-range effort, assisted by Jamal Lewis.

However, Thomas-Asante pulled one back for West Brom just four minutes later, slotting home a right-footed shot from the right side of the box after a through ball from Grady Diangana.

The home side continued to pile on the pressure, and their efforts were rewarded in stoppage time when Darnell Furlong scored a stunning long-range goal to make it 2-2. Thomas-Asante had a solid game, with 33 touches, eight accurate passes (73.0%), three shots on target, and one big chance missed. He also had two shots off target.

The result leaves West Brom in 5th place on the Championship table with 68 points, still in contention for a playoff spot.
