The Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory urging citizens to exercise extreme caution when traveling to Mexico due to escalating violence following the death of Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
The ministry advises Ghanaians to avoid non-essential travel to affected areas, including Jalisco, Baja California, Colima, Guanajuato, Michoacán, and Oaxaca.
The unrest has led to armed clashes, road blockages, and vehicle burnings, causing casualties and disrupting daily life.
Ghanaians in Mexico are advised to limit movement, remain vigilant, and stay in touch with the Ghana Embassy in Washington, D.C., which is accredited to Mexico, for consular assistance.
