Ghana vs Switzerland – Player ratings

The Black Stars comfortably dispatched Switzerland 2-0 in an international friendly ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

It was an impressive performance from the stars as many eye a starting spot in Ghana’s opener against Portugal in Qatar on November 24.

Below is the player ratings of the players who featured in the victory over Switzerland.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi – 6

After a jerky start to the match, the St.Gallen goalkeeper grew into the match and gained a foothold between the post.

Tariq Fosu Lamptey- 6

The Brighton right-back was in top form for Ghana, showing signs of his pace on the right flank. He bumped forward many times and put in decent crosses. In contention to start over Denis Odoi against Portugal.

Baba Rahman – 7

Despite the criticism of his performance of late in a Ghana jersey and his affiliation with Ghana FA boss, Kurt Okraku, Rahman put up a good showing which will silence naysayers for now.

Daniel Amartey – 7

The experienced centre-back did not give Swiss forward Embolo a sniff at goal. Amartey was solid in Ghana’s clean sheet.

Mohammed Salisu – 8

The 23-year-old was formidable at the back and had a good partnership with Daniel Amartey. He capped off his performance with a debut goal for Ghana.

Salis Abdul Samed – 7

The defensive midfielder making his debut for the Black Stars did not put a foot wrong as he shielded the back defense very well.

Elisha Owusu – 7

The 25-year-old’s calmness and composure on the field got him plaudits especially on social media. He dictated the tempo from midfield with his incisive passes. Likely to start against Portugal.

Andre Ayew – 6

Didn’t really exert himself in the match but his ability to anticipate a chance and run for a goal opportunity was never in doubt.

Jordan Ayew – 5

The Crystal Palace attacker was on the left-hand-side for Ghana and did really little going forward. He was the first to be substituted.

Daniel Afriyie Barnieh – 7

The only outfield home-based player in the Black Stars and he did not disappoint. His confidence, pace and trickery was a worry for the Swiss defense. An alternative weapon for Ghana at the World Cup.

Inaki Williams – 6

Showed glimpses of his deadly movements in and around the 18 yard box but did little to threaten the Swiss goalkeeper.

Substitutes

Antoine Semenyo  – 6

Came in the second half and scored to highlight his prolific attribute in front of goal.

Kamaldeen Sulemana – 7

Was a constant threat with his extreme pace and movement. He was key to Ghana’s second goal.

Alidu Seidu, Kofi Kyereh and Joseph Aidoo also had some minutes which was less to rate them.
