Ghana U23 posted a 2-0 win over Liberia in the first leg of their first qualifying round 2016 Olympic Games tie on Sunday. The Black Meteors gained first leg advantage thanks to goals from Dauda Mohammed and Kennedy Ashia. Mohammed’s opener was in the 24th minute and Ashia, who plays for Liberty Professionals, added the second on 56 minutes. The return leg will be played in Ghana in two weeks time due to Liberia’s inability to host the match after Ebola ravaged the country.

Asante Kotoko came from behind to beat New Edubiase 2-1 in the Week 14 First Capital Plus Premier League fixture played in Obuasi.

Bernard Ofori gave the hosts a 12th minute lead after spell of dominance in the opening minutes.

Asiedu Attobrah should have doubled the lead five minutes after but missed a gilt edged chance.

Edubiase’s profligacy came back to haunt them as two quick goals from Jordan Opoku and Emmanuel Asante turned the tide in favour of Kotoko before the end of the first half.

The champions pretty much held their own against the surging hosts for most parts of the second half.

But with barely a minute of regulation time of play left, Aminu Dramani pulled Edubiase level to earn a share of the spoils for his club.
