Ghana striker Jordan Ayew was handed a starting role on his 100th French Ligue 1 appearance for Olympique Marseille on Saturday at Bastia.
But the son of legend Abedi Pele was unable to find the back of the net in his fifth appearance this season as they stuttered to draw 0-0 at the Stade Armand Cesari.
Ayew was replaced after 79 minutes by Andre Gignac.
He graduated from Marseille’s youth side and has not looked back since making his senior team debut in 2009 under Didier Deschamps.
The 22-year-old has been on the peripheral this term and Elie Baup rewarded the youngster for his recent hard work in training.
He scored in midweek at home as Marseille lost 2-1 to Arsenal in their opening Champions League match.
