Ghanaian centre-forward James Ampofo has joined Danish club Esbjerg fB from Norwegian side Strmsgodset for €100,000.
The 22-year-old has signed a contract running until 30 June 2029 and moves to Esbjerg’s 1. Division after spending the previous season in Norway’s OBOS-ligaen. Ampofo completed the switch on 26 August 2026.
Ampofo made 33 appearances in the OBOS-ligaen, scoring nine goals and providing two assists. He also recorded five goals in seven NM-Cup appearances, giving him 14 goals across those two competitions.
Born in Cape Coast, Ampofo is a right-footed striker who stands 1.84m tall. His move to Denmark represents the latest step in a career that has included spells in Norway and Greece.
He joined Strmsgodset from Raufoss in July 2025 for €80,000 before moving to IK Start on loan in March 2026. That loan ended on 25 August, one day before his transfer to Esbjerg was completed.
Ampofo began his senior career with Greek club Episkopi, joining from Semper Fi FC in 2022 on a free transfer. He moved to Raufoss a year later, also on a free transfer, before establishing a route through Norwegian football.
Esbjerg have secured the Ghanaian forward on a deal that keeps him at the club until the end of June 2029, with the transfer completed for €100,000.
