Ghana star Mohammed Kudus declares readiness to help Ajax in any position

Mohammed Kudus says he is willing to help Ajax in any position after failing to secure a transfer from the club.

Kudus was determined to leave Ajax during the recent transfer window, with Everton expressing a strong desire to sign him.

The 21-year-old, who has been consigned to the bench at Ajax despite impressing during pre-season, has agreed personal terms with Everton.

However, Ajax rejected the English club’s bid, stating that the talented midfielder was not for sale.

Kudus came on in the second half of Ajax’s league match against Cambuur on Saturday, and he scored to help secure a 4-0 victory.

Kudus told reporters after the match, “There are more important things in life. You should always be grateful,” he told ESPN. “There are two sides: myself and the club. There must be an agreement. I knew it could go either way. Whichever way it went, I could handle it. You’ve seen that I’m completely focused.”

“I look forward to what lies ahead. I’m here now, so my focus is on the club. I’m doing my best to help the team win,” Kudus said.

The Ghana international did not train on Wednesday, with reports he intended to force his way out of Ajax, but he explained, “There was a lot going on. Mental health is also important. I discussed this with the trainer. That’s how it went. In the days that followed, I prepared myself for today’s game.”

“We are all human,” he elaborated. ‘We are dealing with things. We’ve talked about that. I am now at Ajax and that is the most important.”

Kudus took the position of Brian Brobbey as a striker against Cambuur, not his favourite place on the field, but produced a close range finish for his first goal of the season.

“We all know my best position, but it’s about the team. I do my best in every position the trainer puts me down. I think my best position is attacking midfielder. Number 8 or 10.”
