Ghana squad for Sudan, Lesotho clash out - Adiyiah returns

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has named long-time absentee Dominic Aidyiah in a 25-man squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho.

Also returning to the Black Stars is France-based defender Samuel Inkoom who has not played for Ghana for nearly one year, as predicted by GHANAsoccernet.com two days ago.

Adiyiah, who has not played for the Black Stars since scoring the 7-0 thrashing of Lesotho last year, has clearly replaced Abdul Majeed Waris because of injury.

Four home-based players were named for the two away matches including Kotoko defender Rashid Sumaila.

Aduana goalkeeper Stephen Adams returns to the fold to replace goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey who will undergo surgery on an injury.

Some players who are on the periphery squad like Edwin Gyimah of South African side SuperSport and Italy-based Isaac Coffie were included. Both players have been called in the wake of injuries to Emmanuel Frimpong and Anthony Annan coupled with the lack of activity of Derek Boateng.

Injuries to key players Isaac Vorsah, Majeed Waris, Adam Kwarasey and Emmanuel Frimpong looks to have depleted the squad.

However key players like Mubarak Wakaso, Sulley Muntari, Kwadwo Asamoah, Agyemang Badu, Christian Atsu, Fatau Dauda, John Boye and striker Asamoah Gyan were all named in the team.

 Squad
