Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru has expressed disappointment after Anderlecht lost the Belgium Cup final to KAA Gent.
Ashimeru, who was making an injury return suffered another setback just 16 minutes on the pitch, and had to be forced off.
“This should have been a message of celebration and victory but sadly it isn’t! I’m gutted we disappointed you yesterday even though you lot stood with us every step of the way. We will continue to go fight to make you proud,” wrote the midfielder on Twitter after his side lost 4-3 on penalties.

Ashimeru will miss the rest of the season following his latest injury.
The 24-year-old has been out for three weeks before making an appearance on Monday. He also missed Ghana’s World Cup playoff game against Nigeria.
Meanwhile, manager Vincent Kompany has explained the reason for fielding the Ghanaian despite being unfit.
“You always give a little more to play the final,” justifies Kompany. “We could use his profile at the end of the match. I felt that Gent’s midfield was tiring and that we could dominate them, and take control. Unfortunately, he felt his knee and had to give way to Kana, whose rise to the game I highlight.”
