Ghana midfielder Afriyie Acquah to hand in transfer request at Hoffenheim after World Cup

Ghana World Cup midfielder Afriyie Acquah will put in a transfer request at German Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim, according to Africanfootball.com.

The 22-year-old joined Hoffenheim in the winter transfer window of 2012 for €2.5m but the club never used him for any competitive game.

He was then loaned back to Parma in the summer of 2013 and he ended the loan spell with high ratings by the Italian press.

Acquah is dis-interested in returning to his parent club after the expiration of loan deal.

”I haven’t seen or received any real interest or guarantees of playing time from Hoffenheim so there is no point going to back to Germany to stay in the wilderness,” Acquah told Africanfootball.com from Brazil.

”Joining Hoffenheim nearly destroyed my career so I want to stay in Italy with any Serie A club or elsewhere.

”There is no point going back to Hoffenheim because the club doesn’t need me. I have asked my agent Oliver Arthur to inform Hoffenheim of my intention to leave for another club on permanent basis.”

It is understood several clubs are interested in the defensive midfielder, mostly clubs in England, Germany and Italy.

Acquah’s reluctance to return to Hoffenheim has long been predicted as the inevitable outcome because the player’s stay in Germany was so devastating many wrote his career off.
