Ghanaian international Ernest Nuamah played a pivotal role as Olympique Lyon secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Frankfurt in the Europa League group stage match at the Groupama Stadium on Wednesday.

The visitors took the lead in the 18th minute through Ansgar Knauff.

However, Lyon responded nine minutes later, with Rayan Cherki’s strike leveling the score before halftime.

Lyon gained control after the break, and it paid off five minutes into the second half as Malick Fofana put the French side ahead in the 50th minute, assisted by an exquisite pass from Cherki.

Just four minutes later, Nuamah displayed his skill with a brilliant strike into the top corner, following another precise pass from Cherki, extending Lyon’s lead to 3-1.

Omar Marmoush reduced the deficit for Frankfurt in the 85th minute, but Lyon held on to claim victory.

Nuamah now has a goal and an assist to his credit in the competition.
