Daniel-Kofi Kyereh registered his first goal contribution of the season as Freiburg defeated Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday.
The Ghana forward assisted the German club’s second goal in the 3-0 win in Greece.
The win means Freiburg maintain their 100% record in the competition, having won their first match 2-1 against Qarabag FK at home
Kyereh has struggled with match fitness since joining Freiburg in the summer, and he was only making his second start of the season on Thursday.
He had an impact on the game, as he set up Michael Gregoritsch to double the lead after Nicolas Hofler’s strike in the fifth minute.
Kyereh showed lovely footwork, before squeezing a pass between two players for Gregoritsch to apply the finish.
Gregoritsch added his second goal after the halftime break to seal a memorable victory.
Kyereh joined Freiburg for 4.5 million euros after an outstanding season with St Pauli in 2021/22. The 26-year-old had 13 goals and 11 assists in the German second division.
Kyereh is a key player for the Black Stars, and he is expected to be included in the squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
