Ghana FA to drop intended complaint to Fifa over Zambia defeat

Ghana FA to drop intended complaint to Fifa over Zambia defeat

The Ghana FA is looking to drop an intended official complaint to Fifa after Ghana’s 1-0 loss to Zambia in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The Ghanaian delegation complained of harassments and unfair treatment meted them by Zambia officials and policemen.

Some Black Stars players also complained of physical assault after the defeat at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The association also had a lot of issues with the performance of Tunisian referee Merd Kordi over some dodgy decisions during the game – especially at the time the hosts were under serious pressure as the Black Stars surged forward in search of an equalizer which never came.

The Ghana FA’s Director of Communications, Ibrahim Sannie-Daara had earlier said the GFA will be reviewing the tapes of the game before deciding whether or not to officially lodge a protest at Fifa.

But he bow says the possibility of not going to Fifa is more likely now with their aim to fully concentrate on the remaining four game in the qualification series.

“No decision has yet been made but we are leaning towards dropping the complaint,” he told Kumasi-based Fox FM.

“The FA has not met due to the death of Jordan Anagblah but we are looking to come out with a final decision of our next move very soon.

“We are looking to rather focus on the matches left and we believe lodging a complaint could shift our focus on the core business so yes we are leaning towards dropping our protest.”

Ghana is currently second in Grouo D with three points, one of leader’s Sudan.

The World Cup qualifiers will resume in March next year.
