Ghana is in talks with Wales to play a pre-World Cup friendly match, according to Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams.
This potential fixture is part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
“Ghana is in negotiations with Wales to face their national team for a pre-World Cup friendly,” Kofi Adams told the Parliamentary select committee for Sports.
Ghana has already confirmed friendlies against Austria and Germany in March, and more matches are being lined up for May and June.
The Black Stars, led by coach Otto Addo, are looking to fine-tune their tactics and build momentum ahead of the World Cup.
They’ll face Panama, England, and Croatia in Group L.
A strategic partnership between Ghana and Wales was recently announced, focusing on coach development and football knowledge sharing.
This friendly against Wales would provide valuable exposure and help Ghana prepare for the global stage.
