Ghana duo Schlupp and Dodoo crush out of English League Cup after Hull defeat

Ghanaian pair of Joseph Dodoo and Jeffrey Schlupp saw their League Cup dreams evaporated on Tuesday night following Leicester City’s painful defeat to Hull City. 

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri started Dodoo, 20, but left out the utility Schlupp from the entire squad for the game as they faced the Tigers at the Kingston Communications Stadium.

Algerian forward Riyad Mahrez had stepped out of the bench to open the scoring for the Foxes in the 100th minute after a pulsating 0-0 stalemate in regulation time.

But Hull equalised through Abel Hernández five minutes later sending the game into shoot-outs to determine the winner of the tie.

Dodoo, who had scored four (4) in the competition going into the tie, could not get the chance to get involved in the experience and tension of the shoot-out as he was replaced in the 84th minute Mahrez.

The pair must now focus their attention on the FA Cup and league campaigns after their exit from the League Cup.
