Black Starlets deputy captain Ernest Ofori says Ghana is ready to rise to the occasion when they face hosts Ivory Coast in a decisive Group A showdown at the WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship in Yamoussoukro.
Speaking on the eve of the highly anticipated fixture, Ofori stressed that the team is determined to secure a result that will strengthen their push for a place in the knockout round.
“We’re fully prepared for Ivory Coast,” he said.
“We know what is at stake, and we’ve worked hard in training to put ourselves in a good position to win. All we will need to do is to be tactically disciplined, and the job against Ivory Coast will be easier,” he added.
The deputy skipper credited head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum and his technical team for their detailed preparation.
Ghana earned plaudits in that game for their resilience, having battled to a 1-1 result despite playing almost the entire contest with ten men.
Now, the Starlets are eager to build on that fighting spirit and notch their first victory of the tournament.
A win against the Ivorians would not only hand the Black Starlets a major boost in confidence but also place them in a commanding position to progress from the group stage.
