The Columbus Crew captain suffered a head injury in the second half of Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Central Africa Republic on Sunday at the 11 du Novembre Stadium in Launda.
Mensah suffered a headbutt from an opponent resulting in a concussion.
He was given emergency treatment on the pitch before being rushed to the hospital for further treatment.
CT scans confirmed normal findings but would have to spend the night at the hospital for further assessment and evaluation.
In a statement from the Ghana FA, the medical team is working around the clock to get the former Rennes defender fit.
