The Black Stars had been due to take on Congo in a 2012 qualifier on Saturday June 4 at the Accra Sports Stadium but those plans have changed. Ghana Football Association vice president Fred Pappoe confirmed the change in venue and date to KickOffGhana.com but would not delve into the reasons for the last minute change of plans. KickOffGhana.com has learnt though that the change in venue, instigated by the National Sports Authority is because the scoreboard and the floodlights have become faulty. The shift in day too, it seems is to ensure the Stars can get the Congo game out of the way in time to return to Accra and catch a flight to South Korea where they have agreed a friendly game against South Korea. Ghana leads qualifying group I on goal difference from Sudan on seven points after the first three games. CLICK HERE for the Afcon news, tables and results.
