Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has unveiled a 23-man squad for the upcoming Unity Cup 2025, scheduled to take place in London this week.
The squad includes a blend of home-based players, emerging youth talent, and experienced returnees. Four players from the Ghana Premier League have been handed call-ups: Benjamin Asare (Hearts of Oak), Razak Simpson (Nations FC), Kamaradini Mamudu (Medeama SC), and Kwame Opoku (Asante Kotoko).
Goalkeeper Joseph Tetteh Anang, formerly of West Ham United and currently playing in Ireland for St. Patrick’s Athletic, earns his first senior national team call-up.
Promising duo Abdul Aziz Issah and Aaron Essel, who impressed for Ghana at the recent U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, have also been rewarded with places in the squad.
Also included is rising star Caleb Yirenkyi, who has been outstanding for FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark, as well as Mohammed Gadafi Fuseini of Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.
Midfielder Abdul Samed Salis, currently with English side Sunderland, makes a return to the national team after recovering from an injury that sidelined him for much of the season. Forward Felix Afena Gyan rejoins the squad after nearly two years out, while Majeed Ashimeru of Anderlecht also returns to the fold.
The selected players are expected to report to camp in London ahead of Ghana’s opening match in the Unity Cup. The tournament features four nations: Ghana, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Ghana will face rivals Nigeria at the GTech Community Stadium in West London on Wednesday, May 28, with the winner advancing to the final on Saturday, May 31.
