Black Galaxies coach Kassim Mingle Ocansey has tipped South Africa’s Bafana Bafana as serious contenders for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following their 1-0 win over Ghana.
The friendly, played on Tuesday at the Dobsonville Stadium, impressed the Ghanaian tactician despite his side ending on the losing note.
Ocansey revealed his team studied South Africa closely before the game and managed to limit their strengths for long spells.
“They are very solid, very tactical. We watched some of their clips and we were able to block some of their moves,” he said.
“The goal they scored was a gifted goal from a our mistake. Bafana is a very strong team,” he stressed.
When asked about their prospects at the continental showpiece, Ocansey was confident in South Africa’s chances.
“I’m sure they are one of the contenders of the AFCON, so I think they can do better at AFCON.”
South Africa are drawn in Group B alongside Egypt, Zimbabwe and Angola.
