Ghana recorded a 1-0 win over Nicaragua in an international friendly on Tuesday evening.
The match wasn’t as close as the scoreline suggests as the Black Stars were guilty of missing several chances while goalkeeper Richard Ofori remained largely untroubled for 90 minutes.
The four-time African champions dominated the opening exchanges at Estadio Francisco Artés Carrasco in Lorca.
Otto Addo’s men came close to breaking the deadlock in the 13th minute when Osman Bukari was put through on goal but his effort has was stopped by the goalkeeper.
The Black Stars continued to enjoy large spells of possession but the Central Americans remained very organized and compact in midfield and defense.
But their resilience was finally broken ten minutes to half time courtesy of a beautiful left footed shot by Issahaku Fatawu.
Ghana began the second half just as they ended the first, in complete control but it was a tale of disallowed goals and missed chances.
Kudus Mohammed found the back of the net in the 54th minute but the goal was ruled out for an apparent offside call on Inaki Williams in the build up.
It was Inaki’s turn in the 66th minute after the Athletic Bilbao Star was put through on goal by Issahaku but the striker was denied brilliantly by the Nicaragua goalkeeper.
The Black Stars has another goal scored by Kudus ruled out for offside late in the game.
The last chance of the game fell to the Ajax star again in the 90th minute but his shot just went wide of the left post.
The game ended 1-0 in favor of the Black Stars as they wrapped up their schedule for this FIFA international break.
