The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has welcomed government’s approval of $1.2 million to fund the Black Stars’ final two games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
The Sports Ministry’s allocation will cover both matches, with $733,000 going into the away trip to Morocco to face the Central African Republic on October 8, and $387,000 for the decisive home clash against Comoros in Accra four days later.
According to GFA Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, the Association had submitted its projections based on previous international assignments, stressing that costs often fluctuate due to constant changes in match venues.
“The budget the Ghana Football Association (GFA) sent to the Sports Ministry are the actuals… Once we make those projections on empirical evidence, research, facts and historical antecedents, it is always up to the Sports Ministry to take the final decision,” he explained to Woezor TV.
He further highlighted that expenses such as feeding, hotel accommodation, training facilities, and local transportation differ from one location to another, pointing to the September qualifiers in Chad and Ghana as examples of varying expenditure.
The Black Stars are scheduled to play CAR at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes before returning home to meet Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium.
