GFA to prioritise ending Ghana’s age-old AFCON drought at 2023 tournament

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to put in place plans that will help the Black Stars to have a good chance of winning the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Ghana after winning the AFCON in 1982 has since gone over 40 years without lifting the prestigious continental tournament.

With many disappointments in the last decade, Ghana is growing impatient with the citizenry crying yearly for the enviable title.

Just this year in January, Ghana participated at the 2021 AFCON staged in Cameroon but failed once again.

The Black Stars were pitted in Group C but failed to excel as the team was knocked out at the group stage having failed to win a single match.

Ahead of the start of the qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON, the Ghana FA is according to sources making plans to help the national team to break the title jinx next year.

Ghana will play against Madagascar on May 30 in the first match of the qualifiers to the 2023 AFCON.
