In a major move aimed at halting the growing exodus of footballers from the Ghana Premier League, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a new partnership with Adesa Production Limited (APL).
As part of the agreement, each of the 18 Premier League clubs will receive GHS 1 million ahead of the upcoming season.
For years, Ghanaian clubs have struggled to hold on to their top players, many of whom are lured away by more financially rewarding offers abroad.
But the GFA is hoping this latest initiative will help clubs offer better contracts, improve working conditions, and make staying home a more attractive option.
“This is the minimum under our new partnership model. It’s not a grant, it’s a guaranteed commitment by the GFA, Adesa Productions, and the government,” Kurt said at the official launch.
The deal, which also sees Adesa Production Limited continue its role as the league’s broadcast partner, is expected to enhance the commercial and media value of the Ghana Premier League.
In addition, the GFA has secured other sponsorship agreements with LeLe Tasty Foods Ghana Limited and Kasapreko Company Limited to bolster its development agenda.
With financial backing now on the rise, the GFA believes clubs are better positioned to build competitive squads, improve infrastructure, and give young footballers a future that doesn’t require leaving the country.
