As part of the collaboration between the Ghana Football Association and the French Football Federation, with support from the French Embassy in Ghana, a selected number of Women’s Football Coaches will undergo a training programme at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence at Prampram between 3-7 June, 2024.
The training for the Coaches is part of a wider strategic initiative that is designed to revolutionise Women’s football in Ghana by providing unparalleled professional developmental opportunities to Women in Football as well as other Sports Professionals involved with Women’s Football.
This Strategic Project is a first of its kind and has already seen the Black Princesses undergo a training camp at the prestigious Clairefontaine Centre, the historic home of the French national team, from 10th to 17th February 2024.
This camp provided the participants with knowledge, skills and technical knowhow required to excel on the global stage, focusing on the unique needs and challenges of female footballers, coaches and female referees in Ghana.
The initiative underlines a commitment to professionalize women’s soccer and is tailored to nurture the talent of Ghana’s U-20 Women’s team, the Black Princesses, and its technical team.
This effort aligns perfectly with the recent qualification of the Black Princesses for the 2023 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia.
The Project provides a mechanism by which the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of France enables the French Embassy to operationalize innovative, quick impact and highly visible on-ground projects to benefit local populations.
The project is to improve integration of youth from diverse backgrounds and promote gender equality by encouraging female inclusion in sports.
For the GFA, the project is also a strategic step towards achieving the goals spelled out in the Women’s Football Strategy by the Ghana Football Association, aimed at raising the game to new levels and heights.
The upcoming Women’s Football Coaches Training programme is expected to further enhance the knowledge and skills of participating Coaches, thus ultimately further empowering Women’s Football in Ghana.
