GFA forwards all FIFA monies to the owners of the Black Stars, the government – Nana Oduro Sarfo

Nana Oduro Sarfo, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has refuted allegations of the association’s lack of accountability.

The ‘Save Ghana Football’ demonstration, which drew numerous football enthusiasts expressing discontent with the management of football in Ghana, prompted Sarfo’s response.

The protest was spurred by the premature elimination of the Black Stars from the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire, prompting football fans to take to the streets of Accra.

Among the demands articulated by demonstration convener Saddick Adams was a call for enhanced accountability of the GFA by Ghana’s parliament. In response, Sarfo clarified the financial oversight process, suggesting that inquiries about funds from FIFA should be directed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

“If they want to know about monies from FIFA, they can go to the Ministry (Youth and Sports) for the Ministry to get them the spreadsheet because the monies from FIFA, when it comes to us, we forward it to the government.”

“It’s not our money. We’ve been made to know that the Black Stars is not our property so we send the money back to the alleged owners of the Black Stars.”
