The Ghana Football Association has provided clarification regarding the absence of Osman Bukari and Alexander Djiku from the Black Stars’ first training session ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.
The two players were unavailable as 24 out of the named 26 players participated in the training session for the upcoming matches against Mali and the Central African Republic.
Bukari had travelled to the United States of America to finalize a three-and-a-half-year contract with Austin FC, while Djiku was sidelined due to a knock and was not fully fit for training.
A GFA statement said, “Bukari’s late arrival is due to his transfer from Red Star Belgrade to Major League Soccer side Austin FC, while Djiku is being assessed after picking up an arm injury in the closing stages of the Turkish Super Lig.”
The team will continue training before leaving on June 4 for the first clash.
Ghana take on Mali in June 6 in Bamako before hosting the Central African Republic in Kumasi four days later.
