GFA expands Prampram centre with two new natural grass pitches

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially commenced the construction of two new natural grass pitches at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram, in a bold step towards upgrading Ghana’s football infrastructure.

This project, made possible through FIFA Forward funds, is part of the GFA’s broader agenda to transform the GSCE into a leading hub for elite training, player development, and international-standard competitions in West Africa.

Upon completion, the facility will boast three natural grass pitches, complementing its two existing AstroTurf pitches; one of which is fully equipped with floodlights.

This expansion significantly increases the center’s capacity to host national teams, local clubs, and developmental programs, providing a more professional and versatile training environment.

GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has led a comprehensive effort to modernize the GSCE. Key initiatives under his leadership include:

  • Installation of floodlights on the AstroTurf pitch
  • Construction of the two new grass pitches
  • Procurement of vehicles for Division One League clubs and Regional Football Associations
  • Plans for a 40-bed accommodation block to support residential training camps

The new grass pitches are being built to international standards, ensuring they meet the requirements for both local and international competitions.

These upgrades align with the GFA’s long-term vision of positioning GSCE as a centre of excellence for football development in Ghana and across the continent.

The FIFA Forward Programme continues to play a crucial role in the realization of these projects by providing targeted support to member associations for sustainable football development.
