In a recent controversy, Frederick Acheampong, a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has staunchly refuted allegations of embezzling funds from former player Ransford Osei.
The U-20 World Cup winner claimed in a recent interview that he had given $20,000 to Mr. Acheampong, intending it as appreciation for his call-up to the 2010 AFCON in Angola.
Osei further asserted that the alleged failure of the former Ashanti Gold CEO to distribute the money had cost him a call-up for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
In response to these accusations, Fred Acheampong issued a statement on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
He categorically denied ever requesting or receiving such an amount from Osei throughout their interactions, emphasizing his role as Marketing and Communication of Kessben FC.
Acheampong dismissed Osei’s claims as absurd and went on to challenge the former Asante Kotoko striker to provide evidence of the alleged payments. He asserted that, without proof, he would take the necessary steps to seek redress.
