Communication Director to the Ghana Football Association has revealed that the Football Association reached out to Amir Abdou for the Black Stars coaching job.
It was widely reported in the Ghanaian media the country’s football governing body were after the services of the French gaffer after he led Mauritania to the Round of 16 at the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast but he ended up extending his stay with the Mauritanian team for another two years.
Over 500 trainers across the world were reported to have applied for the Black Stars coaching job but the Ghana Football Association settled on coach Otto Addo.
“For instance, Amir Abdou, the man with Mauritania was one of the coaches who was contacted and later his federation decided to extend his contract” Asante Twum told Radio Gold.
Addo has named 26 players for the upcoming friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in the international break.
